Working Principle

Description

The SmartElex Soil Moisture Sensor measures the moisture level in soil by using two large exposed pads that act as probes. These probes function as a variable resistor, where the presence of water in the soil improves conductivity between the pads, resulting in a lower resistance and a higher signal output (SIG out).

Dos And Donts

Donts

  • Avoid Continuous Exposure: Avoid continuous exposure to wet conditions to prevent shortening the sensor's lifespan.

Dos

  • Connect Vcc And Gnd: Connect the VCC and GND pins to your Arduino-based device or compatible development board to power the sensor.,
  • Check Manual: Refer to the manual for assembly, weatherproofing instructions, and example projects.
Limits

Voltage Range

  • Description: The sensor operates within a voltage range of 3.3 to 5 volts.
How To Connect

Steps

  • Description: To connect the SmartElex Soil Moisture Sensor, attach the VCC pin to the 3.3V or 5V output on your development board, connect the GND pin to a ground port, and read the SIG out pin to measure the soil moisture level.
