Working Principle

Description

The Figaro TGS2610-C00 LP Gas Sensor is a semiconductor type gas sensor that utilizes a metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensing principle. It detects gases by a change in resistance when the gas comes into contact with the sensor, heated by a built-in heater.

Dos And Donts

Donts

  • Exceed Voltage Limits: Do not apply more than the specified voltage (5.0±0.2V DC) to the heater to prevent sensor damage.,
  • Use In Extreme Conditions: Avoid using the sensor in environments outside the specified test gas conditions of 20±2°C and 65±5% RH to maintain accuracy and sensor longevity.,
  • Ignore Safety Standards: Do not disregard safety standards such as UL1484 and EN50194 when integrating the sensor into applications.

Dos

  • Ensure Proper Ventilation: When using the sensor, ensure the area is well-ventilated to avoid accumulation of gases and to ensure accurate readings.,
  • Follow Voltage Specifications: Apply a heater voltage of 5.0±0.2V DC to ensure optimal sensor performance without damaging the sensor.,
  • Use Correct Load Resistance: Use a variable load resistance with a minimum of 0.45kΩ to match the sensor's requirements.
Limits

Heater Current

56±5mA

Heater Resistance

Approximately 59Ω at room temperature

Heater Voltage

5.0±0.2V DC

Sensor Resistance

1.0~10.0kΩ in 1800ppm iso-butane

How To Connect

Circuit Setup

  • Description: Connect the sensor's heater terminals to a power supply of 5.0±0.2V DC ensuring the current does not exceed 56±5mA. The load resistance should be variable starting from 0.45kΩ minimum. Sensor output can be read across the load resistor.
